How to prompt AI to get business coaching and marketing help

This post shares the prompt template that I've been using to create new offers, new lead magnets, new workshops and all of the necessary copywriting for several months now.

Plus, you'll get to see a real-world example of how it works, too.

Ok, here's the prompt template in its raw form that you can use as a guide to begin a conversation with all of the pieces of the puzzle that Claude will need to help you get world-class results:

  1. Introduce your role and expertise: "I need your help as a [specific type of marketer]. Please act as a [describe ideal expert persona] who excels at [list key skills/areas of expertise]."

  2. State your primary goal: "My main objective is to [describe your primary marketing goal]."

  3. Provide background on your current situation:

  • Your niche: "[Describe your niche]"
  • Current strategies: "[List current marketing strategies]"
  • Target audience: "[Describe your current and/or desired target audience]"
  • Core offer: "[Describe your main product/service]"
  1. Explain your challenge: "Here's the specific challenge I'm facing: [Describe your marketing challenge in detail]"

  2. Share any relevant theories or approaches: "My approach to solving this involves: [Explain your ideas or theories]"

  3. Request specific help: "I need assistance with: [List specific areas where you need help, e.g., hooks, unique mechanisms, messaging]"

  4. Provide context on common misconceptions or objections: "Some obstacles I'm facing include: [List relevant misconceptions or objections in your market]"

  5. Ask for insights and ideas: "Based on this information, do you have any:

  • Insights on my approach?

  • Ideas for hooks or unique mechanisms?

  • Suggestions for overcoming the stated challenges?"

Now, the template itself can feel and read a bit clunky...

Or it may feel too 'rigid' at first...

But know that you can just freestyle your response and it's ok if you ramble or go in a different order.

The key here is to give Claude as much information about your customer avatar as possible. The more you share about who you help and how you help them, the better.

For me, I usually write about 800 words or so to hit all of these key factors to prime Claude with what it needs to begin a coaching or copywriting work session.

My initial prompts are usually over wordy, have poor grammar, lots of 'oh ya, and this too' comments within them, etc.

The goal here is to help you see that you don't need to craft any fancy prose to get great results.

You simply need to cover all 8 key points from the template above.

Here's a real-world example based on a brand I could build in the fitness and weight loss space so you can see how this template looks once it's all written out.

Please act as a seasoned fitness marketing expert who excels at crafting compelling offers, developing unique hooks (in the style of Michael Masterson's "Great Leads"), and creating innovative mechanisms (like those discussed in Eugene Schwartz's "Breakthrough Advertising").

My main objective is to grow a large, engaged email list of potential customers in the weight loss niche, specifically targeting men in their 40s.

My niche is weight loss for men, focusing on helping guys in their 40s achieve a lean, muscular physique without going to the gym. Currently, I'm using social media content marketing and some paid ads on Facebook to attract leads. My target audience is men aged 40-55 who are frustrated with traditional gym-based approaches and are looking for a more convenient, sustainable way to get in shape.

My core offer is a 12-week online coaching program priced at $997, which includes a customized meal plan, daily accountability check-ins, and weekly group coaching calls.

Here's the specific challenge I'm facing: While my program delivers great results for clients, I'm struggling to stand out in the crowded weight loss market. Many potential customers seem skeptical of "another weight loss program" and are hesitant to invest in my high-ticket offer right away.
